Fractional Leadership:
Built For Healthcare Staffing

Secure the leaders you need, when you need them.

Not every leadership need
looks like an open search.

It might be a vacancy that cannot wait, a leadership layer you are not ready to commit to full time, or a specific problem that just needs fixing. An experienced C-suite or VP-level operator can step into your business within days and handle it without the lag or commitment of a full-time hire.

Why Fractional?

Your CFO leaves in the middle of a sales process.
Your VP of Operations exits right as your largest MSP renewal is due.
You have grown past the point where you can keep doing everything yourself, but you are not ready to add a full-time executive’s salary to fixed payroll.
Sometimes there is no vacancy at all, just a specific problem sitting unresolved because nobody has the bandwidth of expertise to fix it.

None of these moments are rare in healthcare staffing.
Sometimes the right answer is still a permanent hire, but not always. Fractional leadership is built to solve your challenge fast. A retained search still gets you the right permanent leader, and ours moves fast: a 14-day candidate presentation standard, not six months. But even a fast search needs real time to run properly, and some of your challenges cannot wait or should not lock you into a full-time hire before you are ready. Fractional leadership covers the gap either way: an experienced operator who has already run a staffing P&L, managed an MSP or VMS relationship, or led a Joint Commission survey, walks in and hits the ground running, stabilizing the function without the ramp time or the long-term commitment a new hire needs.

This is not a consultant writing a report and leaving.
A fractional leader sits in the seat, makes decisions, and runs the functions day-to-day. That can happen on a part-time, interim, or project basis, for as long as the business needs it, whether that means bridging to a permanent hire, solving one specific problem, or becoming the leadership layer itself for a while.

How it Works

Not every engagement needs to start with a full commitment. Some begin with a Sprint: a short, 20-hour diagnostic to scope the problem before anything longer-term is decided. It is optional, not a required first step, but available if you want to test the fit before going further.

Transition

We learn the situation, whether that is a vacancy, a leadership question you are still working through, or a specific problem, and what the function needs to look like when the engagement ends.

Every fractional leader is pre-screened by us using the same tried-and-tested process behind our retained search placements.

We aim to present qualified fractional leaders within a few days, as your need is often immediate.

We work with you to make sure the leader has everything they need on day one, including a checklist built for the role. From there, the factional leader starts, whether on a Sprint, a retainer, or a project basis, with a dashboard so you can see how the engagement is processing.

We plan the endpoint from day one. That might mean the fractional leader rolls off once a permanent hire starts, the engagement converts into one, or the arrangement simply continues on a fractional basis for as long as it makes sense.
